We, Josh Luke ,Vansh Vora ,Ansh Sakaria and Arya Kothari were assigned as a group to work on the topic of grandparents . it is a great privilege to work on such a topic . Here in india we mostly have joint families that is the parents , the children and most importantly the grandparents stay together .
Grandparents in india are greatly respected and supported . they , if not supported by the families , are helped and taken care of in old age homes or by the many NGOs that work towards the welfare of the senior citizens of india . so in other words , they are really secure and looked after . we interviewed many people during the time and got to know many things from their point of view . it was really enriching and educating to listen to them . we interviewed each one of our grandparents and asked them how they feel about whether they are respected or not, whether they are taken well care of ,what they feel should be done for the welfare of senior citizens .we also asked them if they feel that grandparents are sufficiently respected and honoured. The answers we received from them were really tantalizing .they felt that-
1.YES they all are well respected and taken care of
2.NO maybe they are well treated but not all grandparents of india are as lucky as them to have a loving family for some of their friends complain about how they families treat them like a burden on their shoulders . [we were really surprised to hear this]
It was truly both good and bad to hear the two lines above as almost all of the people we interviewed made these two points . We had tea with all of them and really enjoyed it spending time with them . We sang songs and played many party games with them. It was a really amazing experience . They told us various stories about their past . I also found out that my own grandfather ,in his old days had met the great Rajiv Gandhi. He even showed me a picture of himself with Mr. Rajiv Gandhi to prove it. All of this was really educational for all of us and we thank the EuMind team for giving us the opportunity to work on such a project.
